Comedy, USA, 1970, 100 min.

Synopsis Living in Rome, plagued by incipient baldness and recurrent dreams of a sex-starved gorilla, American playwright Fred Dobbs consults Dr. Fahrquardt, a bewigged and henpecked psychiatrist. During therapy Dobbs describes numerous marital misadventures, including liaisons with a mistress, Ornella; his sister-in-law, Gwendolyn; his masseuse, Liz; and a nymph, Angelica. Dobbs also relates the escapades of his wife, Millie, recounting her dalliance with two Italian gigolos, Ottavio and Franco, and subsequent affair with movie idol Grant Granite, who, desirous of rights to Dobbs' play, "When in Rome Do As the Romanians," introduces himself to Millie while she is bathing. Dobbs further describes the denouement of these adventures, in which Granite, Millie, and an assortment of lovers converge upon vacationing Dobbs and Angelica, stimulating a slapstick chase through the Cinecitta studios where they unwittingly participate in the filming of a Western. Dobbs' session is abruptly concluded when the sex-starved gorilla enters through the window of Dr. Fahrquardt's office.
