Comedy/Romance/, 2013, 22 min.

Synopsis Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) had very exciting days ahead of them, albeit for different reasons. Claire was heading for her college reunion without Phil, which meant she could reconnect with a few old flames. And Phil was going to join Jay (Ed O'Neill) on his bowling team. He even broke in his new bowling shoes...by slipping and falling a lot. As Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) readied the house for their Oscar party with all sorts of pictures of Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) dressed as Oscar winners, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) was borrowing a few items from Gloria (Sofía Vergara). She then found out from Jay he had his second-place prize from the bowling tournament last year: a spa car that expired that day. Well, one rolled ankle later, and she had managed to guilt Mitchell into taking care of baby Joe. Which worked just fine for Cam, since Lily was clearly too lazy to pose for any more pictures...after six hours.Jay had a bit of a crisis, since he really wanted to win the tournament vs. his big rival, Closets Closets Closets Closets. (4, not five. Like the clapping in the theme to Friends.) But with Gloria "at the doctor," he had to deal with Manny (Rico Rodriguez) being depressed about losing a third singing audition. Jay didn't want to deal with it very long, particularly given how long Manny decided to shop to get out of his depression, so he stuck Manny on the bus to take him home. But then he felt guilty and chased after the bus, demanding Manny sing because Manny's only problem was singing in front of other people. So at Jay's demand, Manny was able to serenade the entire bus with some That's Life from Frank Sinatra and Manny killed it.Phil, having found out he was replaced on the bowling team, got depressed and decided to join Claire at her college reunion. A bit of a mistake because he ran into Tater (David Faustino), who had quite the crush on Claire in college. Much to Phil's surprise. He kept marking his territory around Tater. (PHIL: She saw, she liked, she got pregant, she had to marry me.) Only then he realized that wasn't who Claire dated in college right before him. She called him Tater because she Heimliched him when he choked on a tater tot. It was Professor Cook (Maxwell Caulfield) whom Phil had to watch out for. And sure enough, he tried to impress Professor Cook with his knowledge of the Impressionists. (PHIL: You can see the influence of the early Impressionists, the Rich Little's, the Frank Gorshin's on the Jimmy Fallon's of today.) But the party in Professor Cook's living room, which doubled as a study...and a bedroom...and came complete with an alcoholic ex-student for a wife...put everything in perspective for both Claire and Phil. Claire never felt better she married Phil, and Phil was glad there were no more ex-boyfriends he had to worry about. As far as he knew.Mitchell and Cameron returned home with baby Joe and a big problem. Lily glued one of his wigs onto his head. Steaming it off didn't work, nor did Cameron's Plan B. Or Plan Bieber, as it were. So Plan C it was: drop the baby off with a horrible haircut and run like hell. (CAMERON: You could have let me do it; I have 32 hours of Vidal Sassoon training. I left over creative differences.) Delayed by Jay's bowling triumph, Mitchell offered to join Cam in Missouri for a week (TEN DAYS!) if he took the fall for them. Before Cam can fess up (or at least pretend Gloria broke his chafing dish), Gloria had a bone to pick with Luke (Nolan Gould), who kept leaving things out. Cam traded the solo into the musical for Manny for the baby's hair, who then traded the blame to Luke in order to get the signature on a failing grade forged. But when Luke would get in trouble for eating the last piece of cake that Gloria's mother sent from Colombia, he blackmailed Jay for having a ringer on his bowling team. Amazingly, Jay had the perfect excuse. He cut baby Joe's hair just like his own father used to cut his hair but he screwed it up. Gloria was happy someone had the guts to admit the truth as she shooed everybody out of the house, and pulled a Keyser Soze at the end of The Usual Suspects.BTW, the bowling shoes? Apparently only Phil can slip and fall in them. Alex (Ariel Winter) couldn't, Haley (Sarah Hyland) couldn't, and Luke...well, he could.
